Introduction
Facts:
Matanzas is situated in the municipality of Ojuelos, Jalisco, Mexico at an elevation of 2205 meters. The town sits about a kilometer from the route 80 in the Northeast of the state.
The town has three schools (needs verification) Cinco de Mayo, Igancio Herrera y Cairo, and Rosaura Zapata.
According to my family, Matanzas used to be called La Hacienda de la Daga. The town was built around the hacienda, which is now the Barrientos' home across from the school Ignacio Herrera y Cairo (How did the school get its name, and when was it established?).
Matanzas was named as La Hacienda de La Daga, It was a small part belonged to La Hacienda de Juachi ( La Colonia ), Both were fractions from La Hacienda de Cienega De Mata, Jalisco and the Main House for these Haciendas Was La casa Grande or La Casa de La Hacienda,The Hacendado House It's currently The Palacio De Gobierno Del Estado de Aguascalientes , There is a book named The mayorazgo de los Rincon Gallardo, You can find lot of Information About This. The Mayorazgo De los Rincon Gallardo Was bigger than the Aguascalientes state Current size. [1]

ReplyDeleteFeel free to add sections to this blog. Also if you want to translate it to Spanish, please feel free. Invite others to follow and add. I think we can all make this a good social-media project.
ReplyDeleteWho gave the hacienda the name 'La Daga' and why? And what lead to the town to be named Matanzas? I know there are other towns in Latin America named Matanzas, as well, but again why?
My dad's grandfather is Alfonso Macias Arandas. My Father Luis Macias said he was very well known in this area along with Ojuelos de Jalisco. I am now looking into his history because i am now interested. Since you have done some research maybe you know more than me. My father said he was Chief of Police, President not sure what else.
DeleteCuco barrientos le dio ese nombre
